Do It Together @ SXSW Introduction.
Hello fellow SXSW attendants and participants for this years conference. Its going to be a great year of learning, rocking and fun!
This blog is home to ten students that attend McNally Smith College of Music in the beautiful downtown area of St. Paul MN. The school is entering new territory for education and networking in the Untied States and even the rest of the world and us as the students are helping to make it happen! All I can say is that we are super excited for the new experiences that we will be awaiting us.
This year is the first time that McNally Smith is participating in SXSW and we have our own day party! We are partnering up with one of the greatest non-profit organizations in the Twin Cities that help with music and education called Rock The Cause. We are super excited to have them with us and what a better way to making a killer day party happen is to DO IT TOGETHER!!!!!
Me and the other students are in a class called SXSW and when this event was in the works McNally thought it would be a great idea and make this experience into a class. We are learning how SXSW runs, why its so important for the industry and also giving us a change to expand our knowledge and our network. In class we are also the ones responsible for making the press releases and sending them out, monitoring our social networking presence, taking care of the bands with all their needs, working the Trade Show at SXSW, and running our event when the time comes! This is one of the greatest learning experiences that I have ever had at school. Hands down, and I think that I can speak for the rest of the class and say the same thing.
With this blog we will be posting content and info about our day party, songs and videos from all of our artists that are so awesome to be apart for such a great cause, suppressing, killer news on SXSW, interesting panels that we are going to, showcases that will blow our minds and anything else that we think is radical!!!
Next post will give you all the info and line up for our day party! If you are going to be down in Austin in two weeks (WHOA! that was really fast) we would love for all of you to come out and support education and music! Thanks for looking and supporting a great cause!
